DOMINOES FUNDRAISER ALL CALL
Good afternoon, Blackburn families. This is Betsy Green, principal of BES.
We are going to do 2 fundraisers this year, one for Dominoes Slice The Price Cards and our annual Boosterthon at the end of February.
The Dominoes fundraiser starts today and will end on Tuesday, Feb 2. The fundraiser was supposed to start on Jan 6 and end Jan 20, so anywhere you see Jan 20 on what was sent home, now it should say Feb 2.
Your student will be bringing home an order form and details about the fundraiser today. Even though we are sending home an order form, we encourage all of you to do this online and not go door to door.
The slice the price card costs $10 and can be used until Dec. 31, 2021. Every time you order a large pizza between now and Dec 31, you get another large pizza for free. If you order 5 large pizzas, you will get 5 free large pizzas. This card will pay for itself after the first use.
You can share the link or the QR code with relatives and friends through Facebook, other social media sites, through email or text. Dominoes will send the cards ordered online directly to the people that order the cards.
There are different prizes for different sales levels and families will get a free card once your student sells 12 cards. The website has a link that shows all the Dominoes that accept the card and all the Dominoes around us do accept the card.
The transcript of this all call will be on our website for you to refer back to.
Thank you for supporting BES.
IMPORTANT ALL CALL TRANSCRIPT
Good afternoon. This is Betsy Green, principal of Blackburn Elementary School. Students will return to school on Tuesday, January 19 and we will all be happy to welcome them back. Thank you for doing an amazing job of supporting your children during this virtual learning time. When they return to school, they will need to return their Chromebooks, chargers, and all papers/supplies sent home with students. Please put these items in their backpacks and instruct them not to get them out until they get to their homeroom and their teacher asks them to get it all out.
As we prepare to return to school next week, please take all precautions and do not send your child to school if they have symptoms related to COVID 19. If your child has been exposed to someone who has tested positive or they are showing symptoms, please email me or call the school directly on Tuesday for guidance.
In addition, we strongly encourage all students to wear their masks as much as possible at school. We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.
We will hold our 1st semester Chief Council Ceremony on Friday, January 22. Since no visitors are allowed in the building, we will record the ceremonies and post the recordings to our website.
This message will be posted on our website for you to refer back to later.
IMPORTANT ALL CALL TRANSCRIPT
This is Betsy Green, principal of Blackburn Elementary School, with important information about distance learning. Students will be interacting with their teachers on a daily basis via zoom meetings. School hours for virtual learning are from 8am to 2:30pm. Students will be following the schedule set by the grade level teachers and this will be communicated through their google classroom. Teachers will also be sharing zoom links through their google classroom.
Here is the pick up plan for laptops and supplies - Wednesday from 8a to 11a and 1p to 4p - If these times don’t work for you, you need to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
and we will plan a time to meet you.
Here are the directions for device and supplies pickup. Parent pulls in the bus blacktop, which is the 2nd BES entrance. Please do not pull into the normal entrance as this will be one way traffic for exiting. Parent drops student off at yellow hall doors where staff will be standing, drive through the open side gate to the front lot and get into the parent pick up line. Students will be directed to cars once they have picked up all materials. Please bring an empty bookbag with each of your children for them to put all materials in for easy pickup.
If you have a 3rd, 4th or 5th grader and they do not need a laptop, you do not need to come to the school. If you have a Kinder, 1st, or 2nd grader and they don’t need a laptop, you will still need to come to the school to get some instructional materials to go along with the online learning.
The transcript of this call is already on our website for you to refer back to since there are so many details.
Parents and guardians, this is Betsy Green, principal at BES. Device and material pickup will occur on Wednesday from 8am to 11am and 1pm to 4pm. Tomorrow, your child’s homeroom teacher will reach out to you to determine if your student needs to borrow a device from the school. Please be patient with us as we finalize plans for device and materials pickup. We will do an all call tomorrow with very specific directions for you to follow.
If you have a student returning from virtual school, please keep your device and they will do virtual school with their new teacher.
If your student was changing homeroom teachers due to creating new classes in 3rd and 5th, your student will do virtual school with their new teacher. New teachers will be reaching out to you tomorrow to let you know how to access their google classroom.
Good afternoon, parents and guardians. This is Betsy Green, principal of Blackburn Elementary School with a few important announcements.
LC Schools will be on Christmas break from Dec 21 through Jan 4. Students will return to school on Tuesday, Jan 5.
This Friday, Dec 18 is an early release day and school will end at 11:25. The buses will pull out of the school at 11:25, so please plan accordingly to meet your children at their bus stop or be at home when the bus arrives. For example, if your child usually gets home at 3:20 then that is 25 min after the buses leave the school. So you should expect your child at 11:50 on Friday. Please figure this out ahead of time so all bus riders will have an adult at home or at the stop at the appropriate time.
BES is participating in a study that is being conducted by Emory University about the school experience during this pandemic time, both virtual and traditional school. They are looking for parents of kindergarten through 2nd graders that are essential workers to join in a discussion with them about this topic. The focus group will be virtual and it will occur sometime in January. They are offering a $50 Visa gift card to all participants. If you are interested in participating, please call the school at 706-864-8180 and ask to speak to me or email me with your interest at email@example.com
I want to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Tomorrow, Friday, Oct 9 is the last day to order a 5th grade t-shirt. No late orders will be accepted.
