Congratulations to Jennifer Webb and Megan Mills for being chosen as the BES Extra Mile employees for October, 2022. This award goes to one certified and one classified employee each month that do way more than their job description entails to support students and staff. Congrats to these two incredible employees.
Monday night at the School Board meeting, BES’s own Daphney Faulkner was recognized as Blackburn’s Teacher of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year. Coach Faulkner wears many hats at BES in addition to teaching PE and Early Interventions. She also spearheads our Boosterthon efforts and helps run parent drop-off and pick-up. Daphney has an amazing devotion to our students’ needs and is always willing to go above and beyond to ensure that our school is the awesome learning place that it is. Thanks to Coach Faulkner for all that you do!
Our Book Museum was well attended in September. All students and parents that attended got entered into a drawing for $25 to spend at the Book Fair. We drew two names and the winners were Caylee Adkins and Damon Pumphrey. Congrats to these two students.

We also want to thank all of our staff for volunteering their time to work the different events. It was truly a great night for our school community to have fun together.
Did you know that our BOOSTERTHON program comes with an incredible character development program? From practicing letters, coloring inside the lines, and writing a book in kindergarten class to getting rid of some of that elementary energy in the gymnasium, Blackburn Elementary students made the best of their Monday!
Students at Blackburn Elementary School enjoy time with their friends on the way to and during their lunch break. With free breakfast and lunch for every student, every day in our cafés, students are sure to get a well-balanced and healthy meal to fuel their brains!
These students from LCES, LBES and BES were excited to find that X on the side of their lunch tray! More garden heroes given away every day this week to remind our students that eating fruits and vegetables is an important part of our health and nutrition!

Every great future begins with a great plan! Using our theme for this year, Mrs. Kendra Coker's fourth grade students at Blackburn Elementary formulated their plan for a great school year and then challenged their peers to #MatchMe!
Have a great weekend, #TR1BE!
Due to guidance released just yesterday from the Georgia Department of Education, we are currently amending student schedules at all three of our elementary schools. Please allow our administrators and registrars through the weekend to make the necessary changes. Contacting the school by phone or email to ask about your child's teacher will only slow down the process.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Even with this delay, we are excited for the new school year and for you and your child to meet teachers Tuesday during our elementary open house! In fact, to accommodate work schedules, we've added an additional time for Elementary Schools Open House from 5:00-6:00 PM that evening.
Our 2021-2022 LCSS Open House schedule is posted. We aren't wishing away summer, but we are busy planning for the new school year! Come join us on August 3 (elementary school) or August 4 (middle and high school) to meet your teachers and more!
