FCCLA

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America is a national Career and Technical Student Organization that provides personal growth, leadership development, and career preparation opportunities for students in Family and Consumer Sciences education.

 

Our Mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner and community leader, members develop skills for life through: character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

The Lumpkin County School System offers career and technical education programs at Lumpkin County High School and Lumpkin County Middle School. All CTAE programs follow the system’s policies of nondiscrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, including those with limited English proficiency, sex, disability, or age in all programs, services, activities, and employment.

FCCLA members participated in regional and state level meetings in 2023-2024; officers competed in the FCCLA Creed competition and in Program of One. FCCLA/TAP rolled out the Little Indian Bus. The Little Indian Bus is a FCCLA/ TAP project made possible by the L4GA grant. The bus was created out of a former school bus with interior construction completed by FCCLA members and Teaching As A Profession students. FCCLA Members took the Little Indian bus to community events which included Trick or Treating on the Dahlonega Square and a Family Night at Cottrell Elementary.
