Way To Go Team
More recognition for the great things happening in Lumpkin County Schools as all three elementary schools are identified as Title I Highest Performing Reward Schools!

Long Branch Elementary, Lumpkin Elementary, and Blackburn Elementary have each been identified for this honor!

The Highest Performing Rewards Schools are among the highest 5-percent of Title I schools in the state. Calculations to identify these schools are based on the achievement of all students in terms of proficiency on statewide assessments.

Congrats to each of these schools for this awesome accomplishment!!

Important Information about Breakfast
In order to have more students be able to enjoy a school breakfast, we will begin serving breakfast at two different times. Grades 3-5 will eat from 7:30-7:50 and K-2 will eat from 7:50 – 8:10. It is our plan that breakfast will be served quicker and more children will join us for breakfast. Tardy time will still be 8:00.

To log onto the PowerSchool website, please go to

Student/Parent Instructions
For the student account, the username is the student's 10-digit GTID # and the password is the last 4 digits of their social security number.  A student's GTID # can be found on the inside cover of their agenda/handbook.

Customizable Parent Account Login:
Parents may also log on using the same information given above. However, if you'd like to create a customized parent account with more functions, click on the "Create Account" tab. For the customized account, you will claim student(s) by using the student's 10-digit GTID # followed by a lowercase "p" as the username. The password will still be the last 4 digits of their social security number.

With a customized account, you may create the username and password of your choice; sign up for notifications (daily, weekly, or monthly) on your child’s grades as they’re updated by teachers; see student attendance and teacher comments; view Georgia LDS testing data; and easily contact your child's teachers. If you have more than one child you can view under one account!

Beginning October 12, 2016, students new to the Lumpkin County School System will register students at the Lumpkin County central office. The central office is located directly in front of the high school located at 2001 Indian Drive. Parents and guardians can call Nicki Chester at 706.864.3611 to make an appointment to complete the registration package. Parents and guardians should bring the following items to complete the registration process:
1. Birth Certificate
2. Social Security Card
3. Proof of Residency
4. Certificate of Vision, Hearing, Dental, and Nutrition Screening

Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s):

The Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965 requires that parents or guardians who have children attending a Title I school be notified of how well their school is preparing its students for college and/or a career, as well as the school’s designation under Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver.

Under the 2015 renewal of Georgia’s ESEA Flexibility Waiver, certain Title I schools continue to be designated as Reward, Priority, or Focus Schools.  The Waiver allows the use of the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) as the comprehensive report card for all schools in Georgia, providing a score between 0-100 for each school—measuring how well the school is doing in preparing its students to be successful in college and/or a career.

2015 CCRPI scores have not been reported as of this time. Once those scores have been published, all parents will be notified. Our 2014 score was 87.8.

I am very proud to tell you that Blackburn Elementary School has been designated as a High Progress Reward School based on our performance over the past three school years! This is a very big recognition, and we are excited for our school.

At Blackburn Elementary School, we take pride in the teaching we provide for our children. Our teachers and staff members work very hard to meet the needs of all students to ensure they achieve at their highest potential. This recognition shows that students are learning and making good progress.

An important part of BES’s success is parent participation and support in developing activities to improve student achievement.  We hope that you will become involved in our school improvement work as we continue to monitor student achievement and set high expectations.  If you are interested in participating in the development of our school improvement plans, being a part of our family engagement team or have questions about how you can better help your child in school, please contact me at (706)-864-8180 or at

Thank you for all that you do to support your child’s education.
